Happy 10th birthday, Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. In honor of a landmark record from one of the best bands ever (and I'm not just saying this with my Chicago bias), let's indulge in a mutual love of Wilco today:
Their Tiny Desk concert from 2011, performing mostly things from The Whole Love, but also the YHF track "War on War":
What I'm pretty sure was my first Wilco song, which holds a special place in my heart - "A Shot in the Arm":
And, of course, the namesake track of the documentary about the making of YHF: "I Am Trying To Break Your Heart"

lion low
I've been a little m.i.a. -- laying low both online and sort of in real life (exception: super fun visitors a few weeks ago and a "spring break" party). It's been a bit of a concert dry spell in anticipation of some upcoming shows in late-spring/early-summer. However, in the mean time I've been spending a lot of quality time with my Spotify account and falling in love with a few things...
I first started this mix when I was listening to First Aid Kit a bunch, and have now finished it as I've spent the last week listening to Of Monsters and Men on repeat. Rounded out with a bunch of other good stuff that all just happens to reference that king of animals.
Other exciting/notable things lately:
- Instagram on Android!!! (sorry iPhones)
- Port of Morrow did not disappoint, and the new video for The Rifle's Spiral is great
- I can't wait for Crossing Brooklyn Ferry (so soon!), GoogaMooga (yum!!), and summer fun times in general
